White Horse Breath Of The Wild Location And Taming Guide

Exploring the vast landscapes of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild yields countless secrets, unique gear, and majestic mounts to collect. Among the most coveted horses in the game is the legendary Royal White Stallion, a beautiful creature tied to an exclusive side quest. Successfully tracking down and domesticating this majestic steed requires a good mix of preparation, patience, and map knowledge.
Activating the Royal White Stallion Quest
Before heading out into the wilderness to find the horse, you should speak with an NPC named Toffa at the Outskirt Stable. This specific stable is situated in the southwestern region of the Central Hyrule zone, just north of the Great Plateau. Toffa will officially give you the side quest called The Royal White Stallion, prompting you to search for the beast.
Accepting this objective provides valuable context about the animal, which is said to be a direct descendant of the personal mount used by Princess Zelda herself. Completing the request not only grants you a unique mount but also earns you the highly detailed Royal Saddle and Bridle set. Getting the quest first ensures you can immediately register and finish the chore once you return.
Finding the Exact White Horse Location
The Royal White Stallion does not roam the entire map and can always be found grazing in one specific territory. You will need to travel north from the Outskirt Stable across the Aquame Lake area toward the Sanidin Park Ruins. The majestic creature typically spawns on the grassy hills just past the stone ruins, usually near a large prominent tree.
When approaching the destination, scan the fields carefully because the stallion stands out clearly against the green fields due to its pure snow-white coat. Unlike standard wild horses that travel in large groups, this legendary creature wanders entirely alone. Make sure to clear out any nearby monsters beforehand so they do not startle the horse during your approach.
How to Successfully Tame the Stallion
Taming this particular steed is significantly more difficult than calming standard mounts because it possesses an exceptionally high stamina requirement. You must sneak up behind the animal slowly by clicking the left stick to crouch and moving forward at a minimal pace. Wearing stealth-enhancing armor sets or consuming stealth-boosting meals will drastically lower the chances of alerting the beast.
Once you get close enough to see the prompt, press the mount button to leap onto its back and immediately begin soothing it. You will need to rapidly tap the soothe button to deplete its initial wild resistance before Link runs out of his own stamina wheels. It is highly recommended to cook several stamina-restoring dishes using Endura Carrots or Stamella Mushrooms to consume mid-tame.
Registering and Customizing Your Mount
After the horse finally calms down and accepts you as its rider, steer the animal carefully back toward the Outskirt Stable. Be mindful of the terrain along the way, as pushing the horse off steep cliffs or into deep water can easily injure it. Once you arrive safely at the stable, speak to the front desk worker to officially register the stallion into your collection.
You can name the mount whatever you like, though many players prefer to choose something fitting for a regal companion. After registration is complete, speak with Toffa again to show him the horse and conclude the side quest. He will reward you with the Royal Gear set, which you can equip right away by talking to the nearby stable hand.
